run the race – rtr

run the race.

Covered in the spirit of Galatians 5:7 & Hebrews 12:1-3, RTR is weekly encouragement to the believer, reminding the body of Christ to be equipped for the race that is set before us all; individually, in community, and in real relation day-to-day. RTR also serves to encourage fitness in mind, spirit, and body.

Galatians 5:7

“You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth (of the gospel)?”

the law of love

What better way to start the week off than by pondering on love. We see in the word so many illustrations of what love is, what it does, and why it matters so much. Importantly, we see the personification of love in Jesus Christ.

We will focus here, the word says, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13).” These are the words of Jesus Christ to his disciples, knowing the immediate wisdom and life that these words would give to them at the time and us today, but still foreshadowing the greatest laying down of life known to man. God humbling himself to become man, laying his life down because it was the only way to save us (his friends) from the death of sin, from our nature of wrath unto glorious life and true liberty. The weight of this is sobering, that we were in such a shape that we needed this, that our maker would took on humiliation, scorn, and brutality for this great end. What great love is this, that the Father gave his obedient Son to take the punishment, for the disobedient. This brief message on love is not at all exhaustive, but I wanted to share a quick encouragement on just why we are able to walk in love, because of the great love given to those who are in Christ. For those who do not know of this great and perfect love, who do not know the author of love and life, I share with you the gospel of Christ, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).” We all know what it is to have loved and to have love lost, but what He is offering here to us is love that cannot fail, will not leave, forsake, nor harm, and that is because it is perfect, it is 1 of 1, the original, and the only love that can truly satisfy what the human heart desires. Seek with sincere heart, lay it all out and Christ will answer, try Him on this.

Thank the Lord for adoption as sons and daughter unto life and righteousness! We can remember this great love, for it gives us the ability to run the race!

Thank you for sharing your time, I pray that this message reaches you well. Until next time, continue to run the race!
