Happy, Happy, Happy New Year! It is a great time to consider just how great of an opportunity we have to start anew, and to look forward to not only the great things that the year may bring but also to keep in mind the savior that we await. While we actively await His return we are left with a task, one as farmers, who sow seeds and reap harvests. As this year begins I wanted to share some of the great encouragement that was placed on me. To sow good seeds that are aimed at the Kingdom of Heaven, not self, and circumstance will always result in the most fruitful of harvests, not only in this life but in the one to come also! Our scripture verse catalyst will come from (Matthew 6:33), and its says “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” In whatever seed is being planted this should always be the objective in mind.
This is not something that we easily live up to, but as we grow closer to Christ our affections begin to mirror His, and we seek for the great and awesome things that he seeks, and that is what we should ‘sow’ into. Whether it be the generousness that makes one give to a person out of a sincere desire to help them, a prayer offered on behalf of someone who is going through a tough time or is even hard to deal with, or even the evangelistic heart that allows one to witness to others of the great truth of the gospel; that Jesus Christ is LORD, and that he has come that all may have eternal life, wishing that no one would perish, but that they would repent, turning from sin and toward Him, and believe in him and not their own good deeds.
These are only a few examples of good seeds, but the latter was that of what I believe to be the most important seed, for this sort of harvest leads to the eternal life of another person who is flesh, blood, soul, mind, and spirit just like us! Who after tasting the true freedom in Christ does not share this same good news? If you are already walking with Christ and running the race that is set out before you I challenge you to plant seeds such as these, springing forward unto eternal life for those that Christ died for. Gain a brother, gain a sister. If you do not know Christ as savior and King, I want to ask you to look at the great gift exchange that he offers in salvation; your sins for his freedom, your rags for his robes, bondage for joy. It is evident that we are in broken world, it is also apparent that we seek contentment and true joy. I want to share that this brokenness is because of sin, and the only true fulfillment of joy is in knowing the creator personally who came to grant this gift of salvation. He is the only way “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6).
John 3:16-21 (The Gospel Message)
“ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”
Sow a good seed friends, we will reap anyhows.
Run the race.
